🌽🐍 Corn Snake Care Sheet 🌿🌡️

Housing:

  • Provide a secure enclosure with a tight-fitting lid.
  • A 20-gallon tank is suitable for a single adult, but larger is better.
  • Include hiding spots, such as branches, rocks, or commercial hides.
  • Use a substrate that retains humidity, like aspen bedding or cypress mulch.

Temperature & Lighting:

  • Maintain a temperature gradient of 75-85°F (24-29°C) on the cool side and 85-90°F (29-32°C) on the warm side.
  • Use heat lamps or heat pads to achieve these temperatures.
  • While they don't require UVB lighting, providing a day-night cycle with a light source is beneficial.

Feeding:

  • Feed your Corn Snake thawed rodents appropriate to its size.
  • Feed juveniles every 5-7 days and adults every 7-10 days.
  • Provide a shallow dish of fresh water at all times.

Handling:

  • Handle your snake gently and avoid sudden movements.
  • Wash your hands before and after handling to prevent the spread of disease.

Health & Behavior:

  • Ensure proper shedding by providing a humidity box or increasing misting.
  • Look out for signs of illness, such as wheezing, mucus discharge, or lethargy.
  • Corn Snakes are generally docile but may musk or bite if stressed.

Additional Tips:

  • Clean the enclosure regularly to maintain hygiene.
  • Avoid overfeeding to prevent obesity.
  • Provide enrichment, such as branches or climbing structures, for mental stimulation.

Remember, proper care and attention are crucial for the health and well-being of your Corn Snake. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to consult with a reptile veterinarian. 🌽🐍
