Lively, peaceful schooling fish that needs a lot of free swimming space in the middle.  The aquarium should be planted densely on the sides and background.  The water should be very hard, because when the water is not hard enough they get pale.  You should keep them together with other peaceful fishes.

You should give them small live food.  Dry food is accepted as well.

Breeding is not difficult when you can feed the young fishes with enough food that is small enough for them to eat.  The eggs are laid and fertilized between fine leaved plants.  After spawning the parents should be removed.  You should give the young fishes very small dustfood such as paramecia and rotifers.
