Description:

The Neon Green Candy Cane Coral (Caulastrea spp.) is a popular LPS (Large Polyp Stony) coral, known for its bright, glowing green coloration and round, trumpet-shaped polyps. Its vibrant appearance under actinic or blue lighting makes it a standout piece in any reef tank, adding contrast and a touch of elegance to your aquascape.

Candy Cane Corals are peaceful, hardy, and ideal for both beginner and experienced hobbyists. They grow in branching colonies, making them easy to frag and propagate over time.

🛠 General Care:

• Lighting: Moderate to high. Thrives under a range of lighting setups, with best coloration seen under blue/actinic light.

• Flow: Low to moderate. Too much flow can prevent the fleshy polyps from fully extending.

• Placement: Lower to middle areas of the tank. Allow space between other corals to avoid accidental stinging.

• Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 76–80°F (24–27°C)

  • Salinity: 1.024–1.026 SG

  • pH: 8.1–8.4

  • Alkalinity: 8–12 dKH

  • Calcium: 400–450 ppm

  • Magnesium: 1250–1350 ppm

• Feeding: While primarily photosynthetic, Candy Cane Corals benefit from occasional target feeding of meaty foods like mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or coral-specific foods—especially at night when feeder tentacles are extended.

⚠️ Notes:

• Candy Cane Corals are relatively peaceful, but still possess sweeper tentacles. Keep a few inches of space between them and more aggressive corals.

• Over time, they can develop into beautiful branching colonies with proper care and stable parameters.
