Sailfin Molly (Poecilia latipinna)

The Sailfin Molly is a beautiful and hardy livebearer, loved for its elegant large dorsal “sail” and peaceful nature. Males boast the striking sailfin display, while females are larger-bodied and more subtle in colour. These fish are adaptable and can thrive in both freshwater and slightly brackish aquariums, making them a great choice for a variety of setups.

Tank Setup: Provide open swimming space along with plants or décor for shelter. Best kept in small groups with more females than males to minimise male competition.

Breeding: Livebearer; prolific under good conditions. Fry benefit from plant cover or a breeding net to avoid being eaten.

When ordering livestock, please select the box size and add it to your cart for accurate overnight (1–2 days) shipping costs:

• Medium box: Fits up to 6 bags

• One bag capacity:

  • Max 10 small (1–3 cm) fish

  • Max 2 medium (3–5 cm) fish

  • Max 1 large (>5 cm) fish

• One species per bag – e.g., one bag of 10 neon tetras

Dispatch Days: Livestock orders are sent Monday to Wednesday to ensure timely delivery.

Delivery Options:

• Overnight Courier: Main centres only (Cape Town, Johannesburg, George, Mossel Bay, Jeffreys Bay, East London, Plettenberg Bay).

• Air Freight: R495 per box; available to selected airports (recommended for Durban and areas with longer courier times).
