Product Description

Species Overview

  • Common name: Caerulean Damsel

  • Scientific name: Pomacentrus caeruleus

  • Origin: Indo-Pacific reefs (Indonesia, Philippines, northern Australia)

  • Adult size: 6–8 cm (2.5–3")

  • Lifespan: 3–5 years in captivity

🌈 Appearance

  • Body color: Bright electric blue (caerulean) with slight lighter underbelly.

  • Fins: Blue dorsal, anal, and caudal fins; sometimes slightly translucent at the edges.

  • Juveniles: Similar coloration but may be slightly paler.

  • Vibrant coloration makes it a striking addition to nano or reef tanks.

🏞 Tank Requirements

  • Tank size: Minimum 60–80L (16–21 gallons) for a single fish; larger for multiple.

  • Water parameters:

    • Temperature: 24–28 °C

    • pH: 8.1–8.4

    • Salinity: 1.020–1.025 SG

  • Aquascape: Plenty of rockwork or coral rubble for hiding and establishing territory.

  • Suitable for reef or fish-only tanks.

🍽 Diet

  • Omnivorous: small zooplankton, copepods, and algae in the wild.

  • In captivity: accepts frozen mysis, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality flake/pellet food.

  • Feed 2–3 times daily for optimal health and coloration.

👫 Behavior & Compatibility

  • Semi-aggressive; may defend a small territory in the tank.

  • Compatible with other peaceful reef fish, but avoid very timid or small species that could be harassed.

  • Best kept in pairs or small groups in larger tanks to reduce territorial stress.

🐣 Breeding

  • Rarely bred in home aquariums; mostly wild-caught.

  • Spawning occurs in small crevices or among coral rubble in the wild.

⚡ Key Selling Points

  • Stunning vibrant blue coloration that stands out in nano and reef tanks.

  • Hardy and adaptable for reef beginners and experienced aquarists alike.

  • Small size and peaceful-to-semi-aggressive nature make it versatile for community marine tanks.
