Product Description

All our fish, shrimp and corals are bagged with fresh oxygen as well as a heat pack in winter.

When ordering livestock please select the box size and add it to your cart for accurate overnight (1-2 days) shipping costs. A small box can take 1-2 bags and a medium box 6 bags. One bag fits max 10 small (1-3cm) fish or max 2 medium (3-5cm) fish or max 1 large (>5cm) fish.

ONE SPECIES PER BAG. Eg: One bag of 10 neon tetra.

Flowerhorn Cichlid (Hybrid Cichlid)

Description:

  • Striking hybrid cichlid known for its vivid colours, unique patterns, and prominent head hump (“kok”).

  • Highly intelligent and interactive, often recognizing and responding to their keepers.

  • Bred in captivity – not found in the wild.

  • A true centrepiece fish for large aquariums.

Care Requirements:

  • Care Level: Moderate to Advanced

  • Temperament: Aggressive, territorial – best kept alone or with very large, equally robust tankmates.

  • Size: Up to 30–35 cm when fully grown

  • Diet: Omnivore – high-quality cichlid pellets, frozen foods (krill, shrimp, bloodworms), and occasional vegetables (peas, spinach).

Aquarium Requirements:

  • Minimum Tank Size: 300 litres for a single adult

  • Water Parameters:

    • Temperature: 25–30°C

    • pH: 6.5–7.8

    • Hardness: Moderate

  • Setup: Strong filtration, open swimming space, minimal decorations (they dig and rearrange), sturdy rocks or hiding spots.

  • Maintenance: Regular large water changes (20–30% weekly) to maintain water quality.

Notes:

  • Known for their aggressive nature – avoid housing with small or passive fish.

  • Can live 10+ years with proper care.

  • Popular in the aquarium trade for their personality, colour, and symbolism of good luck in some cultures.
