Description:
The New Guinea Sole is a fascinating and unique bottom-dwelling fish known for its flattened, disc-like body and exceptional camouflage. Its earthy brown coloration with subtle mottled patterns helps it blend seamlessly into sandy substrates, making it a striking yet stealthy addition to any aquarium. It has both eyes on one side of its body, a characteristic feature of flatfish species.

• Temperature: 24–28°C

• pH: 6.5–7.5

• Tank Size: Minimum 100 litres

• Temperament: Peaceful, but may prey on very small tank mates

• Diet: Carnivorous – enjoys live/frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and small fish

• Substrate: Fine sand is essential for burrowing and comfort

• Tank Setup: Provide soft substrate, minimal sharp décor, and gentle flow

🌿 Additional Notes:

• Best kept in a species-only or peaceful community tank with medium to large fish.

• Ensure food reaches the bottom, as they are bottom-feeders and may miss floating food.

• Can tolerate brackish water; thrives in freshwater but occasional salt may benefit health.
