Description:
Platies are hardy, peaceful livebearers available in a wide range of vibrant colours including red, orange, yellow, blue, calico and wagtail forms. Their compact size, active nature and easy breeding make them ideal for beginners and community aquariums. Males have a pointed gonopodium while females are rounder and larger.
Care Requirements
• Tank Size:
60–80 litres+ recommended for stable water and room for groups.
• Temperament:
Peaceful, social schooling-type behaviour. Best in groups of 5 or more.
• Compatibility:
Excellent for community tanks. Good with guppies, mollies, swordtails, rasboras, tetras, corydoras, and peaceful dwarf cichlids.

Salinity: Optional low brackish tolerance (very light salt only if needed)
• Diet:
Omnivorous. Feed a mix of high-quality flakes/pellets, veggie-rich foods, spirulina, frozen brine shrimp, bloodworms and daphnia.
• Breeding:
Livebearers that breed readily. Gestation is about 4 weeks. Females can drop 20–60 fry. Provide plants or hiding spots for fry survival.
