• Origin: Taiwan (selectively bred from Caridina cantonensis species)

• Adult size: 2.5–3 cm (1–1.2")

• Lifespan: 1.5–2 years

🌈 Appearance

• Semi-transparent body with a metallic blue sheen.

• Females are slightly larger, often showing more intense blue coloration.

• Patterning is subtle compared to heavily patterned Caridina strains, but shimmer is very attractive in well-lit tanks.

🏞 Tank Requirements

• Tank size: Minimum 20L for a small colony.

• Water parameters:

  • Temperature: 20–24 °C (cooler than Neocaridina)

  • pH: 6.0–7.5

  • GH: 4–6

  • KH: 0–2

• Aquascape: Planted tanks with moss, fine substrate, and hiding spaces are ideal. Stable water parameters are crucial for Caridina health.

🍽 Diet

• Omnivorous: biofilm, algae, detritus.

• Accepts specialized shrimp foods, blanched vegetables, and occasional protein supplements.

• Feed sparingly to avoid water quality issues.

👫 Behavior & Compatibility

• Peaceful and social; best kept in groups of 10+.

• Sensitive to water fluctuations and aggressive tank mates; small peaceful fish like otocinclus or nano rasboras are suitable.

• Avoid predatory or large fish, as they may eat juveniles.
