Anubias congensis
Anubias congensis is a hardy and attractive freshwater aquarium plant, prized for its long, lance-shaped, deep green leaves and easy care. Native to the rivers and streams of Central and West Africa, this slow-growing plant thrives in a wide range of conditions, making it ideal for beginners and experienced aquascapers alike.
It can be attached to rocks, driftwood, or décor rather than planted directly in the substrate, as burying the rhizome can cause it to rot. Anubias congensis tolerates low to medium light and does not require CO₂ injection, though growth may be faster with added nutrients. Its tough leaves are generally ignored by herbivorous fish, making it a great choice for community tanks, cichlid setups, and planted aquariums.
