Description:
Female Bettas (Betta splendens) are smaller and less flamboyant than males but still display a wide range of beautiful colours and patterns. They are hardy, active, and ideal for community tanks when kept with compatible tankmates. Females are often preferred for community setups because they are generally less aggressive than males but still exhibit interesting behaviours, including flaring and bubble-nest building in some cases.

Care Requirements:

• Temperature: 24–28°C

• pH: 6.5–7.5

• Hardness: 5–15 dGH

• Tank Size: 20L+ for a single female; larger if keeping multiple females (sorority)

• Diet: Omnivorous – high-quality pellets, flakes, frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms

• Size: 4–6 cm

• Temperament: Peaceful; may be kept in female groups (“sororities”) with proper tank setup

Additional Information:

• Female Bettas can be kept in small groups of 4–6 with plenty of hiding spots to reduce stress.

• Provide plants, caves, and driftwood to mimic natural cover.

• Capable of breeding; males may build bubble nests even when a female is present.

• Ideal tankmates include small, non-aggressive species like tetras, rasboras, Corydoras, and peaceful shrimp.
