Product Description

The Threadfin Acara is a peaceful, moderately sized South American cichlid prized for its elegant fin extensions and distinctive “thread-like” pelvic fins. Known for its calm temperament and vibrant coloration, it’s ideal for community or species-focused aquariums.

🌈 Colour Development – Juvenile vs Adult

Juveniles:

  • Pale silver or olive body

  • Minimal fin extensions

  • Subtle facial markings

  • Often appear plain compared to adults

Adults:

  • Iridescent blue and green body sheen

  • Long, thread-like pelvic fins

  • Distinct facial markings and orange/yellow highlights on fins

  • Males develop more intense colours and elongated fins than females

Colour and fin development are enhanced by:

  • Stable water parameters

  • Balanced diet with high-quality cichlid pellets and frozen foods

  • Low-stress environment

📸 Please note: Photos may show both juvenile and adult specimens. Juveniles will not display full adult fin length or coloration.
