    • Size: Grows to about 1.5 to 2 inches (4-5 cm).
    • Fins: Rounded fins; the dorsal fin is slightly pronounced.
    • Behavior: Peaceful and social; prefers to swim in schools.

    Care Requirements:

    • Tank Size: Minimum of 10 gallons; larger is better for schooling behavior.

      • pH: 6.0-7.5
      • Hardness: 4-12 dGH
    • Filtration: Moderate filtration; keep water clean and well-aerated.
    • Substrate: Sand or fine gravel; can also use planted tanks for a natural look.
    • Hiding Places: Provide plants, driftwood, and decorations for shelter.
    • Diet: Omnivorous; feed a varied diet of high-quality flakes, micro-pellets, and occasional frozen or live foods (e.g., daphnia, brine shrimp).
    • Tank Mates: Best kept in groups of 6 or more; compatible with other small, peaceful fish.
    • Behavioral Note: Active swimmers, especially during the day; prefer open swimming spaces.

    Additional Considerations:

    • Maintenance: Regular water changes (10-20% weekly) to maintain water quality.
    • Monitoring: Observe for signs of stress or illness; treat promptly if needed.
    • Breeding: Can breed in a separate tank; requires slightly acidic water and a spawning medium like fine-leaved plants.
