Daro Colour Tone and Daro Carophyll Red are specialized color-conditioning supplements designed to enhance and maintain the vibrant red plumage of red factor canaries and other red-tinted caged birds.
Because red factor canaries possess a specific gene (inherited from the red siskin) that allows them to process red pigments, they require dietary carotenoids to grow true red feathers. Without these targeted supplements, their plumage will fade to a dull orange or yellow after a moult
Feeding Instructions & Timing
The most critical time to feed these supplements is during the annual moult (when old feathers drop and new pinfeathers grow) or to breeding parents before chicks sprout their first feathers. Fully grown, mature feathers cannot absorb the pigment.
Using Daro Colour Tone:
- During the moult: Mix 1 level teaspoon daily into soft food (like egg food). Moisten with warm water until it reaches a crumbly, non-sticky consistency.
- Year-round maintenance: Provide 2 level teaspoons weekly to prevent color fading between moults
