The Lemon Damsel is a bright, active marine fish that adds a beautiful pop of yellow to a saltwater aquarium. It is hardy, energetic, and well-suited to established reef tanks, making it a popular choice for beginner to intermediate marine keepers.

Unlike some more aggressive damsels, Lemon Damsels are generally one of the more manageable species, although they can still become territorial once settled.

Diet

Omnivore. Feed a varied marine diet including:

• Marine flakes or pellets
• Frozen mysis shrimp
• Brine shrimp
• Finely chopped seafood
• Spirulina-based foods

Feed small amounts 1–2 times daily.

• Salinity: 1.023–1.026
• pH: 8.1–8.4
• Ammonia/Nitrite: 0 ppm
• Nitrate: Ideally kept low and stable

Compatibility

Suitable with many reef-safe community fish, especially when added to a tank with enough hiding places. Best kept with fish that are not overly timid.

Good tank mates may include:

• Clownfish
• Gobies
• Blennies
• Wrasses
• Dwarf angels
• Other peaceful to semi-aggressive marine fish

Avoid keeping with very shy fish in small aquariums, as damsels may become territorial.

Notes

Lemon Damsels are hardy and colourful, making them a great choice for established marine aquariums. Provide good rockwork and stable water conditions to help them settle well.
