🐠 Description
The Solorensis Wrasse is a stunning, peaceful fairy wrasse species native to the waters around Indonesia’s Solor Islands. Males are especially vibrant, with a blue-green body, reddish-orange head, and colorful flowing fins. Like other fairy wrasses, it is a protogynous hermaphrodite—females can transition into males in the absence of a dominant one.
🧼 Care Guide
-
Tank Setup: Needs open swimming space and rockwork to dart in and out of. Keep a tight-fitting lid—they are known jumpers.
-
Social Behavior: Best kept singly or in a female group with one male (in larger tanks). Gets along well with other peaceful reef fish.
-
Feeding: Eager eater. Feed a mix of frozen mysis, brine shrimp, and high-quality marine pellets 2–3 times daily.
-
Reef Safe: Yes – completely reef-safe; will not nip corals or inverts.
-
Behavior Notes: Displays more vivid colors in the presence of other wrasses or during courtship. Low aggression but may flare at similar-looking fish.
-
Breeding: No captive breeding reported; wild-caught only.
