Albino Congo Tetra (Phenacogrammus interruptus “Albino”)
Description:
The Albino Congo Tetra is a rare and striking variant of the classic Congo Tetra. With its pearly white body, pinkish-golden sheen, and long flowing fins, it brings elegance and movement to community aquariums. When kept in schools, their graceful swimming and subtle iridescence create a shimmering display under aquarium lighting.
Care Level: Moderate
Temperament: Peaceful, schooling
Maximum Size: ~8–9 cm
Diet: Omnivore – accepts quality flakes, pellets, frozen foods (bloodworm, brine shrimp), and live foods. A varied diet enhances their colours and finnage.
Aquarium Requirements:
-
Minimum Tank Size: 200 litres
 -
Water Parameters:
-
Temperature: 23–28°C
 -
pH: 6.0–7.5
 -
Hardness: Soft to moderately hard

 -
 -
Environment: Best kept in a well-planted tank with open swimming space, gentle filtration, and subdued lighting to enhance their colours.

Compatibility:
Ideal for peaceful community setups. Suitable tankmates include other medium-sized tetras, rainbowfish, barbs, Corydoras, and peaceful cichlids such as angelfish or keyholes. Avoid fin-nippers that may damage their long fins.
Notes:
-
Display best when kept in groups of 6 or more.
 -
Their finnage and subtle glow become more prominent with age and good diet.
 -
Larger than many other tetras, so provide ample swimming room.
