Product Description

UNS Cryptocoryne Beckettii – Tissue Culture

UNS Cryptocoryne Beckettii is a beautiful and hardy freshwater aquarium plant, admired for its attractive green, bronze, and reddish-brown leaves with gently wavy edges. Its natural colour variations and compact, bushy growth make it an excellent choice for adding texture, depth, and contrast to planted aquariums.

Native to Sri Lanka, Cryptocoryne Beckettii is a versatile and low-maintenance plant that adapts well to a wide range of aquarium conditions. Its attractive rosette growth habit makes it particularly suitable for foreground and midground placement, where it gradually develops into lush, natural-looking clusters.

This slow to moderately growing plant thrives under low to medium lighting and does not require additional CO₂, making it an ideal choice for beginners and low-tech planted aquariums. While CO₂ injection is not essential, it can encourage healthier growth and improved leaf development.

Grown using sterile tissue culture techniques, UNS Cryptocoryne Beckettii is supplied free from snails, algae, and unwanted pests, making it an excellent choice for establishing a clean, healthy aquascape.

Planting Instructions:

Carefully remove the plant from its tissue culture container and gently rinse away any remaining nutrient gel.

Divide the plant into smaller portions, ensuring each portion has healthy roots and leaves.

Using aquascaping tweezers, plant the individual portions approximately 3–5 cm apart in a nutrient-rich substrate. Ensure the roots are securely planted while keeping the crown of the plant above the substrate to prevent rotting.

Provide stable water conditions, adequate nutrients, and moderate water movement to encourage healthy root development and steady growth.

Over time, the plant will establish itself and produce runners, gradually forming attractive clusters.

Please Note:

Cryptocoryne species may experience temporary leaf melting when introduced to a new aquarium. This is a common adjustment process known as Crypt Melt. As long as the root system and crown remain healthy, the plant can recover and produce new submerged leaves.

Plant size, leaf count, and colouration may vary naturally between tissue culture portions.

Perfect for: Nano aquariums, shrimp tanks, low-tech planted aquariums, nature-style aquascapes, tropical community tanks, and foreground or midground planting.
